London Ambulance Service NHS Trust is the busiest emergency ambulance service in the UK with over 4,500 staff who works across a wide range of roles. Our service operates over an area of approximately 620 square miles across London based in 70 ambulance stations.
We serve more than eight million people who live and work in the London area. Our main role is to respond to emergency 999 calls, getting medical help to patients who have serious or life-threatening injuries or illnesses as quickly as possible.
However, many of our patients have less serious illnesses or injuries, and do not need to be sent an ambulance on blue lights and sirens. Often these patients will receive more appropriate care somewhere other than at hospital and so we provide a range of care to them, recognising that many have complex problems or long-term medical conditions. We also provide clinical assessments over the phone to more callers with less serious illnesses and injuries.
As an integral part of the NHS in London, we work closely with hospitals and other healthcare professionals, as well as with other emergency services. We are also central to planning for, and responding to, large-scale events or major incidents in the capital.

As the Financial Analyst you will be accountable to the Senior Financial Analyst and ultimately to the Head of Financial Planning, Transformation and Governance for given areas of responsibility, and will be responsible for the line management of a one year fixed term placement student. You will assist with Trust forecasting processes and systems, assist with the analysis of transformation program progress (including the Cost Improvement Program), and assist with the management and delivery of financial training, providing valuable information to senior managers within Finance and across the Trust.
The role will also involve assisting to ensure appropriate financial governance is maintained across the Trust, and that Standing Financial Instructions and Standing Orders are appropriate and adhered to, and you will be required to produce financial and other information in accordance with strict timetables and short deadlines.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated finance professional who is adaptable, able and willing. You will be expected to promote and deliver a customer-focussed service and to work as part of a team and to contribute to effective team working.
You will need to have excellent keyboard skills and be a competent user of Microsoft Excel and Word and have the ability to analyse and interpret data. You should also be able to manage your workload and prioritise effectively. You must possess excellent written and verbal skills and be able to communicate financial information in a meaningful way to others across the Trust.
Please note, you are required to be studying for (or have completed) a CCAB qualification and the post holder will pursue a programme of continuous professional development in accordance with any relevant professional registration or statutory requirements, whilst maintaining appropriate awareness of service provider requirements.
